Casting Call: "Claire" (Closed)

The role has been filled. We would like to extend a thank you to all talent who have auditioned.

We are seeking average-to-slender built female actors or models with acting experience in their early to mid 20's for a senior thesis filmmaking project which will be held on the 2nd floor of The Art Institutes of Salt Lake City, on February 8th and 15th, from 10am until 3pm.

We are producing a romantic drama titled Claire, a touching tale of an anxious young man, the girl he has a crush on, an intimate night he spends with her, and the tragic realization that the relationship he wants with her may not be possible.

We are casting for the role of the titular character, Claire. The role will require talent that can showcase a delicate balance between free-spirited, a longing to leave a tarnished past behind, and an underlying reluctance of engaging any meaningful relationship with the fear of crushing any who come intimately close.

Important Consideration: The role will require any interested talent to perform in two scenes with mature content: one with non-explicit, brief nudity (showing no lower than the hip); another where nudity is implied but not captured (shoulders with a landscape pan shot of the stomach).

Compensation:

$194 for scheduled shooting days, with the chance for additional payment pending the success of our IndieGoGo campaign (further details below).

Audition Location:

The Art Institute of Salt Lake City
121 Election Road, Draper, UT 84075

Auditioning:

To schedule an appointment slot on either aforementioned date, please email us with “Claire Auditions -- [Your Name]” on the subject line.

Talent should also attach a high-quality, colored JPEG headshot and a PDF resume to the email. Otherwise talent must bring a printed copy of both headshots and a resume ready to turn in to be considered for the role.

The purpose of this audition will be to evaluate your acting prowess for the role. Talent will not be asked to perform or render themselves nude before, during, or after the auditions.

Character slides that will be used for audition are provided for download (PDF document) here: [link]

Audition time will be scheduled in 10-minute blocks. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your audition time.

Submission Deadlines: Email submissions and scheduling inquiries must be sent by 10:00pm MST on the Wednesday before the audition date you request.

Production:

Production will be shot in the southern Salt Lake area, and shooting will begin on Friday, April 26th; and Saturday, April 27th; with Sunday, April 28th reserved for pick-ups if necessary.

Fundraising:

We might also request talent to participate in helping create promotional media to be used for a forthcoming IndieGoGo online fundraising campaign to help cover fees for location, travel & food, props and wardrobe. We will be promoting our campaign through a variety of social networks including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Release & Exhibition:

The final cut will premiere at a private screening at the Art Institute SLC campus for an end of the quarter awards ceremony, which will be announced on a future date. The short will then be uploaded for limited viewing on our Vimeo channel that will be live before production ends.

We aim to showcase the short in multiple outlets, submitting to several local and national film festivals and competitions, including next year’s Sundance and the upcoming Burbank International Film Festival.
